I have a fantastic partner, don't get me wrong, and I am truly grateful to have him in my life, but I have a hard time dealing with his on and off again drug addiction to prescription pain pills. He will go on little binges that last for anywhere between a few days to a week or more. He realizes and admits he is on a binge and does indeed stop when his binge is over. He will go months and months without any kind of pill whatsoever, then he's back to it again. I don't want to think of him as an addict, but in my opinion in order to fully recover you can't touch the drug.
We got into a huge argument because I informed him of my feeling he was relapsing due to putting the drug back into his system, which he feels that is not the case. Does anyone else have this type of problem? What did you do about it? Am I wrong in thinking that he is not truly recovered because he continues to sparingly put the drug back into his system regardless of him stopping for long periods of time?
